Deterioration of
road is not avoided. To preserve the minimum service level of road was
performed by maintenance treatment. One in many obstacles in pavement
management system was insufficiency of budget.
The consequences were raised
such as both of the minimum service level and the design life time were not
reached in sometimes. Several efforts have been accomplished to optimize
maintenance treatment of road, but there were none specifically to evaluate
whether the damage road was reasonable to treat with maintenance or not by
considering of the SNmin , SNact and SNload
aspect. SNmin is defined as
the structural number value of the road after received cumulative average annual dump truck (CAADT)
in ESAL and undergone the serviceability loss (DPSI), and the
other, SNact is defined as the value of structural number that
founded from field. This study aims to
estimate the DED characteristics-based SNmin threshold. Additionally,
SNload is found by trial and error approach in which SNload
value was determined when the Log(W18) design was equal to Log(W18)
load (LogW18rdesign - LogW18load = 0). While, the SNmin
was formulated by SNdesign-SNload. The assumptions were
used at this study: no overloading, the drainage system was very good and no
disaster. Data used at this study was the 2nd Class of JN in
Indonesia. The study resulted in the SNmin
=3,477 at the end of 1st year and the SNmin = 2,129 at
the end of design service life. By comparing the SNmin and SNactual
the damage road will be able classified whether fail or not. SNactual
< SNmin criterion is
categorized as failure and not failure
if SNactual ≥ SNmin.
For the failed road criterion is suggested not necessary to carry out maintenance
treatment and vice versa.
